You know what they say, Never Assume…

Make It Easy for Clients to Find You

Make It Easy for Clients to Find You

My grandma always used to say, "It just makes an ASS out of U & ME!" and it’s stuck with me over the years. (She also used to say that ‘a bunch’ is for bananas, not people, lol.)

As business owners, we can’t assume our potential clients know anything about us—who we are, what we do, or what we offer. It’s important to be clear and upfront with our message and make it easy for people to find us and buy from us!

The point of social media is to get people to visit your website, learn more about what you offer, and make a purchase. If they’re spending too much time trying to figure out what you do or how to buy from you, they’re just going to move on.

I can’t tell you how often I’ve scrolled through Instagram, stopped at a beautiful photo of a product I’m interested in, clicked on the profile, and hit a dead end. No location, so I’m not sure if they’re in the U.S., Ontario, or here on Vancouver Island. There’s no clear way to purchase, and the website link either doesn’t work or isn’t there at all. Like most people, I just keep scrolling and probably won’t return, which means they lost a sale.

Your Instagram bio is key to making sure people find you. Make sure the title is clear when people search. Include your name, your business name, and if possible, your city. People often forget either your business name or your first name, so giving them both options helps!

Add a hook to your bio—let people know why they should click to learn more.

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution for social media, and it’s all about trial and error. But the most important thing is making it easy for your potential clients to find you and get to your website quickly so they can learn more and shop.

Make sure your bio includes your name, business name, location (city or physical store address—don’t just put your address without the city name!), and a working website link so people can easily explore what you offer.
